. . . to read and discuss together interpretations of our faith as seen in literature:
1) East of Eden by John Steinbeck – the Wednesday morning book group is reading this timeless classic. “…a vastly ambitious novel that is at once a family saga and a modern retelling of the Book of Genesis.” Read the book now, and the discussion, facilitated by Rev. Dorinda, will take place on Wednesday, May 31st at 10:00 AM in the Youth Room.
2) Listening for God by Paula J. Carlson and Peter S. Hawkins – “a collection of stories and essays….intended to help readers investigate how life and faith merge in surprising ways and places.” Authors to be studied include Flannery O’Connor, Frederick Buechner, Patricia Hampl, Raymond Carver, Annie Dillard, Alice Walker, Garrison Keiller, and Richard Rodriguez. There will be a weekly Thursday group and a weekly Friday group, beginning on April 20th/21st at 10:00 AM in the Church House Parlor. (Gives you two chances to make it!) Discussions will be facilitated by Pastor Jack.
For questions about these and other adult education book studies, please contact Rev. Dorinda or Pastor Jack.
