MUSIC

The music ministry at KPC is well known in the community for its high quality and variety of genres of music.

Our Organist and Choir Director, Eunkyung “Grace” Woo, is an accomplished organist and pianist and leads our Worship Choir. The styles of music range from Bach to Gospel to contemporary Jazz, and we are not shy about using an array of instruments including our Möller organ, Steinway baby grand piano, and instrumentalists and singers from our church family and the community.

It is not necessary to be a member of our church to participate in the music groups.

VOCAL CHOIRS

We encourage members and friends of our congregation to volunteer their musical talents to help enhance our worship services and special events. Whether you are part of a brass ensemble, aspiring guitarist, or an accomplished violinist, there are many opportunities for the young and old alike! Or would you be interested in singing in a choir or as a soloist on occasion? Contact Eunkyung “Grace” Woo to find out about upcoming opportunities and how to get involved!

Worship Choir

The Worship Choir is a dedicated group of talented singers, ranging from the novice to semi-professional. The choir enhances worship regularly from September to early June.  Occasionally, the choir offers special music, from classical works like Haydn’s Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo (Little Organ Mass) accompanied by strings and organ, to contemporary works like BlueGrass Mass, World Beloved by Carol Barnett.

The choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Children's Choir

We invite our youngest singers to learn new songs and to share their gifts during services a few times throughout the school year.

Children sing together during Sunday school gatherings from September to early June, and all are welcome to join anytime!

HANDBELL CHOIRS

We have various groups available for beginning, intermediate, and advanced musicians. Our Handbell Director, Scott Munson, also a member of our church family, started ringing with the church as a child.

Katonah Celebration Ringers

Our KCR bell choir is made up of 11 ringers, some having more than 30 years’ experience ringing. We have 6 octaves of bronze bells, ranging in weight from a few ounces to over 10 pounds, and 7 octaves of choir chimes. Our ringers have traveled nationally and internationally to perform their special music. Come and hear why!

Rehearsals are Sundays following worship from 12:00-2:00 p.m.

Chamber Ringers

The Chamber Ringers, under the direction of Eunkyung “Grace” Woo, our Music Director, play intermediate level handbell music. They rehearse from 5:30-6:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoons during the school year. They play in church about once a month and participate annually in the Hudson Valley Handbell Festival Conference.

Junior Ringers

The Junior Ringers are our beginners. We invite children and adults from our local communities to try out this free and fun music group that is open to kids as young as the 2nd grade interested in learning to play handbells. They rehearse once a week for 45 minutes on Tuesday afternoons from 5:30-6:15 p.m. The Junior Ringers play in church several times a year and traditionally play the Palm Sunday procession that starts at the old Katonah train station.

Interested in Joining a Bell Choir?

New ringers are welcome any time of year and are encouraged to come to rehearsals to see what it is all about. A workshop is held each June for interested ringers who are considering entering the handbell ministry for the following season (September to early June). You do not have to be a member of the church to participate in this ministry.

Considering Music for a Wedding or Private Event?

Our most experienced group of ringers, the Katonah Celebration Ringers (KCR), play at weddings, international symposiums, local festivals and concerts, and offer a beautiful and elegant musical ensemble to any event. All of our handbell choirs enjoy performing at various venues.
